Hi Joseph,Jono and Rhyn here to tell you about what we have been doing this week in Hoiho. On Monday we went to tech at Garin and we made meat patties. Some of ours turned out okay and some (Judah) didn't.

On Tuesday we had our last swimming lesson. It was fun because it was our last lesson. Within the last two lessons most of us completed the swim for life 200 metre challenge. It was really hard and challenging.

On Wednesday the whole school went into Takahe to say a prayer for everyone in Christchurch because of the earthquake that happened on Wednesday the 23.

Christchurch Earthquake

On Wednesday in Christchurch there was a 6.3 earthquake and only 5km deep. It was heartbreaking for the families all over New Zealand. There is 113 confirmed dead so far and there are still over 200 people missing.

Our Amazing Week Three

Hello, we are Taylor, Georgie and Mary. We are students in Hoiho class and are all Year 8s.
We have had a very busy week, one of the things we have done is go to Mapua.  On Wednesday the 16th 2011 Hoiho class went on a science adventure to the Mapua aquarium.  we were met there by a bloke called Richard. We went to the discovery room. There, we talked about what it was like when the Maori first lived here in New Zealand, how they got there food and what else they did in order to survive.   Richard then showed us some Maori fishing techniques.  We went out into the aquarium   It was very interesting and we had a lot of fun!  We then went to McKee's reserve to look for creatures down at the beach. We mostly  found crabs.  It was a lot of fun!!
We have also been swimming this week at the ASB aquatic center, We have been practising for swimming sports! There are 5 groups in total. This is what some people liked: Olivia liked diving, Clare liked freestyle,Rachel had fun with her teacher and Judah liked backstroke. All in all we had lots of fun and we are prepared for the races! That was what we've been up to for week 3.

Hoiho Class Blog

Hi everyone

At the moment my reading group is reading a book called "The Giver" by Lois Lowry.

The book is about the future. There is no war, no hunger, no pain.
No one in the community wants for anything. Jonas the main characters life is simple, filled with routine and small pleasures. But everything changes on the day of the ceremony. From the moment Jonas is selected as the receiver of memory for the community, his life will never be the same.

But if you want to know more you have to read the story!
